Obviously you have been using this practice for quite some time without
experiencing any negative results. Knowing you it is doubtful you would
share something like this unless you were confident in the results of the
procedure.
I don't believe anybody was to coin a phrase shooting the messenger, more
like expressing concerns. Everybody has their own comfort zone and it is
often difficult to try something new. Personally I did not even know that
this option was available, and I'm a guy who has spent many a day just
looking for drivers mostly in the XP days. That's why I have a database of
around 5 GB of drivers collected here and always looking for more of them.
Thanks for the information.

Woe, woe, don't shoot the messenger, I was just sharing this setting with
the group.
1. First of all I have a second USB sound card, so I am not worried.
2. Second of all, I have always aloud my computer to download and install
driver updates automatically, no problems after many years of doing so.
3. Third of all, These updates for the apps and icons and maybe drivers,
come from the manufacture of your computer according to this setting, as far
as I understand.
If you know for sure differently about this, please
share...thanks...Smiles...

Just a note on this:
Randomly updating device drivers is not a highly recommended practice,
especially if they are not from the original device manufacturer.
Updating device drivers is only recommended when it adds additional
security, or fixes a specific problem.
Having said that,
they should be otherwise left as they are, since updating them can result in
unexpected problems.

Hi Group. A friend of Ed's show him this setting. I just changed this
setting for my W-10 computer. May work in older versions of the windows
operating systems, I have no way to check this out. This will allow your
computer to update apps and icons for your computer, maybe even drivers,
automatically.
1. Press the windows key, type device instillation.
2. press enter on, Change device instillation settings, control panel.
3. By default, it is set to the no radio button.
4. Up arrow to the yes, recommended radio button.
5. Tab to the save changes button, press enter.
6. Now Your computer should automatically download and install and update
your computer manufactures app and icons, and maybe drivers as well for your
computer model.
