Dear Lois:
I have had the same experience. In most cases, I have found the
messages in the deleted messages window. There have been other times when I
simply lost a group of messages.
I normally use the shift delete when culling out the three hundred or so
messages I receive daily. When the shift and delete keys are used together,
the message will most often disappear.

                Yours Truly,

                Clifford Wilson

Lois,

Could you have "hide read messages" checked under Current View in
the view menu? I've been known to accidentally hit the keystroke to
mark all messages in a thread as read and they "disappear" on me if I
have hide read messages checked.

Hi all,

This morning, the strangest thing happened. I was reading and
deleting messages when about forty of them disappeared. I haven't
found them. Also, jaws wouldn't read the to line when I tried to
compose, and nothing came in. Now it's working again, but the lost
messages are still lost. I thought I may have hit a wrong key while
deleting, but I can't think what. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Lois
