I'm not exactly sure about what you are trying to do in Excel.  So to start
with, here are 2 commands that might help you out.  One is for inserting the
date into a cell, and the other is for entering the time.


Insert the date, use control plus semicolon
Insert the time, use Control plus shift plus semicolon
