Dear Bryan:
I am afraid I lack sufficient knowledge in this area to answer your
question. My ZD 8000 will only give one hour's use on battery, and even
then the screen and other features are degraded to save energy.
It does work well as a desk-top, as it is relatively quiet
and the screen, according to the sighted folks who have used it, is really
nice.
I bought this unit specifically because it has the numeric keypad, as I
could never become accustom to the standard keyboard on the Toshiba
Satellite which I owned previously. I have not been disappointed at all
with the keyboard. I have been considering purchasing another computer for
the office, and a similar lap-top would be ideal, but I would prefer a
lighter unit with longer battery life, when and if one becomes available.
Yours Truly,
Clifford Wilson

Hi,
the hp nx9600 is similar to your model, both with the num pad and short
battery life.
is there any chance of extending battery life with installing a lower speed
centrino chip?
