Debbie - Anything that changes the computer's "signature" will force you to authorize again. This means anything like installing a new drive or, as you discovered, changing the amount of memory on the system. I don't quite understand why you had to re-activate after restoring an image, though. I'm assuming that this is one of the newer versions of JAWS that uses the Internet License Manager technology, not an older version that uses the old Everlock floppy disk type of authorization.
And remember that now that you're down to a single activation, you an contact FS support and request that they raise your number of allowed activations back to the normal number of 3. All they need is your serial number. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbie Bugella" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 1:51 PM Subject: [jaws-users] Reasons for JAWS Activvation? Hi: I have JAWS on a removable drive at school. Someone used the drive, but luckily made an image of mine first. After the person was finished reinstalling it again, I had to activate JAWS again. I don't know anything about imaging, but assumed This is normal, because an image would not save the activation, correct? Now the second time I had to activate JAWS again was on my home computer. Here is where I am totally lost! I had the shop upgrade the ram only... they didn't do anything to the hard drive, so does anyone know why I needed to go through activation again? Thanks, Deb.
