Typing echo isn't the issue. I've always used echo characters since I started using JAWS in 1998 and it's never posed any such issues. In fact, if you're _not_ echoing something, you'll never know if your computer has locked up or not, since you'll have no audio feedback. The problem is most likely one of the following:
* Virus * Fragmented memory (reboot system cures this) * Corrupted Outlook Express or Windows file(s) (try running the WFC program) * In some cases, a virus checker can cause this kind of problem when checking incoming mail Since Mitch has reported such bizarre issues with Outlook Express, I think that what he really needs to do is to bite the bullet and reinstall Windows from the ground up. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Annette Carr" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, November 03, 2006 12:59 PM Subject: RE: [jaws-users] problems with typing messages in oe! Hmm, that is an interesting consideration. I'm so used to having the feedback from JAWS as I type. I'll have to try it and see how it goes typing in silence.
