Hi Lisa, The shortcut key combination to reach the shut down dialog box, is to focus on your desktop, in other words, minimize every window you are working with, and press the alt+F4 combo. This will bring up the dialog box to shut down the computer. You can then select whether you want the computer to turn off, stand by, go into hibernate mode, or log off. Obviously, selecting stand by and hibernate modes will return you to where you left off, with all the windows minimized, and you can start working from there. In addition to some other's question, it is possible to put a shut down icon on your desktop, but I can't remember what the procedure is. I will investigate and let you all know.
