What I was alluding to in my description were the differences in the
2. Stand by and Hibernate are two different functions, if you have the
Operating system that has them, yet they share some of the same
functions/principals. It is very hard to try and explain something here in
a paragraph or two, to people on this list who aren't aware of these
functions and haven't figured out if they need to employ them.
We await any contributions you have that might address the previous
questions put to the list concerning; what is, how do I execute and all the
short cuts in JAWS for Stand by mode and Hibernate and the differences as
well as why one might use these two features for I am a user who doesn’t
have the need for windows user log on or to employ the stand by mode at my
location.
I am a hibernate user.

Uhm Bob, I think you're referring to the hibernate mode.
As far as I know, that is the only mode that supports saving information and
workspace details to the hard disk.
Stand by is just a power saver option for letting your computer run on
minimal power, while you go off and have that thirty-first cup of coffee.
If the computer cord gets wrenched from the CPU or the grid in your area
loses power, you will lose anything that you might have been working on if
in stand by mode.
In hibernate mode, it is as you described.
