Confused ... is Anakia format the format used by the XDoc plugin? Assuming, that you do not intend to change the manual (converting this from Docbook would be a heroic effort :-), I'd propose that you do whatever is the least work for you. The main purpose of your work is having a Mavenized version. We can change details later on. (At least my impression is, that we'll all benefit, if we are working with the same version ASAP.)
