Actually I tried referencing the link that was given but it went to a page on the Jbase site that was not valid. I use the sdk's on Win 7 and earlier. I was told by others that the sdk's do not run on Win 8 and that no sdk's wold be available by Microsoft for win 8 without buying Visual Studio. I will attempt to load the sdk on Win 8 and see what happens.

As far as the version of Jbase, most of my customers cannot afford to upgrade their system to a 64 bit system to run Jbase 5 at this time due to a very bad economy and we did not want to force the issue so I support all versions from 3.x to 5.x.

If you use the recommended SDK's as per the jBASE web site, or ask jBASE
support if you are not sure, then there should be no problem compiling and
running any code.

When you start messing about with any versions of Visual Studio that is
based around .NET Framework 4.0, then you will encounter problems.

For jBASE 3.x, you want either Visual Studio 6 or the .NET 1.1 SDK.

For jBASE 4.x, you basically want the .NET 2.0 SDK

For jBASE 5, all the details are on the jBASE web site.

latest version of Windows and then want to install a version of jBASE which
may be 8 - 10 years old.

Can you compile on the win 8 pro?

We have 3.4.10 running on Windows 8 Pro on a Dell XPS10 tablet and an

The tablet is 32 bit, so the regular install worked fine there, the zino
is
64 bit and we had to use a custom script to install on that.
I'm pretty sure that Visual Studio Express 2012 does include cl.exe, and I
think we tried compiling on the Zino using that, but that was months ago,
I'm not near that machine, and I can't recall if we registered for use
after
30 days. If I remember I'll look and see

Has anyone out there successfully run Jbase 3/4 or 5 on the new Win 8
platform? I understand there is no SDK on it so there is no ability to
compile programs without buying additional items.
