Yes it's possible and yes get a 'pro' version (avoid anything from Microsoft with home anywhere in the name), and it's simplest if you get a 32 bit version.
3.4.10 is the last version, but we have a few laggards so you might try whatever version you have in hand. Depending on which version you are currently running going to 3.4.10 may require recompilation.
