| Marc,
| I'm on your side. I would *really* like to be able to use jBoss.
| However:
|
| Please interpret the following passage of the GPL, and tell us how
| it applies to an app server based on software like Apache, Tomcat, Avalon,
| Castor, Tyrex, PostgreSQL, and jBoss. Specifically, imagine I want to
| make available a single download for a full open-source J2EE app server.
| Do you think it is possible to include jBoss with non-GPL packages?

YES. If the jBoss ditro is built separately and available separately. I can
include it on the same CD as non-GPL products as is done now on for example
GNU/Linux distros. If my medium of delivery is not a CD but an electronic
download then so be it. I can download many GNU/Linux distros rather than
buy CDs for instance.

If you have a single distro that includes all these components then the GPL
is a problem I believe. The trick is to not build an inclusive ditsro but to
resdistribute the jBoss distro unmodified along with other separate (but
integrated) distros.
