| That is how you interpret it, not how RMS interprets it.

We are discussing the application of GPL to jBoss. We can and we have
defined our interpretation. That is what counts isn't it?

| Period.

I am not sure how this is a problem. jBoss is a separate project/product
from Apache. You can create a modified Tomcat distro that can integrate with
jBoss under APL. You can also create a modified jBoss distro that can
inegrate with Tomcat under GPL. You can supply both on the same CD as many
Linux distros do or even in the same download. They are still separate
distros in the legal sense.

| Marc, I'm definitely not afraid to tell you what I think and I'm tired of
| discussing it. I'm burnt out on this war. It is completely stupid and it
| looks like you are going to have to get yourself burnt before you see the
| light. Sigh.
|
| The only solution for you is to choose a NON GPL license for JBoss such as
| MPL, BSD or APL. Period. You have no other choice unless you want to
| completely loose control of JBoss and have all of your hard excellent work
| completely ignored.

This is about control of a product?. I thought it was about overcoming
perceived barriers to integration/reuse.

In any case, isn't Linux a GPL product ?. Do you see any problems with that
or am I missing something entirely here?

| I'm not saying that I'm going to do it (I'm definitely not going to do it
| cause I don't like EJB anyway), but while I was at ApacheCon, I have
| certainly heard enough other people talking about doing it.

Another Open Source EJB server project. We wish them well.

| People are VERY unhappy with the fact that JBoss is GPL and will
| be looking
| for other solutions to support.

If would be most helpful if the people outlined their reasons for being
unhappy and we'll try to work them out. If an explicit change to the license
is required then we will consider it (or rather the jBoss board/community
will).

Cheers!,

Micheal
