Names of EJB's should be set to, well, plain names, without prefixes or
suffixes.

Why would you want it otherwise? It's just a name that is to be unique
within the deployment. And there's nothing else that can be named within
the same namespace.

Support for smart linking (ejb/XXX -> XXX, XXX -> ejb/XXX) is already in
there :-)
