I typically don't use a heavy IDE for development. I usally use a good
programmers editor (JEXT and Jedit are good, pure java, open source
editors). I then use Ant as a build tool. If I need to do some
debugging, I might use Jbuilder. Jbuilder is not open source but the
Foundation version is free.
