Even I faced the same problem in my computer at home. It's not on the
network, therefore didn't have networking installed, therefore tcp/ip wasn't
installed on it.
My tomcat didn't work, my any other port based s/w didn't work.
After installing networking from i386 dump, everything started working.
I think it's because tomcat works on http and so does jboss.

BTW, it's my first day at the jboss list and second day working on JBoss.
Am looking forward to a wonderful experience here.
