Sorry for being stupid, but I don't see the point, except that it is already
backfiring.

I do not believe any of these people would break the code on purpose, quite
the contrary as they are also selling JBoss support.

If you are afraid that they might copy the code, or use knowledge of the
code as base to start their project, what good does removing CVS access do?
They can still read the code...

There are many people around the world (trying to) sell JBoss support (I
mean, that is one of the reasons why somebody would get certified). Are they
all going to be banned ? Hey, I mean that most JBoss users earn money doing
so.

JBoss Group still has enough core developpers. I think most companies who
need JBoss support will come to JBoss Group. The other guys seem to focus on
open source consulting, not just JBoss, but including other OS software. I
can image they have (at least a marketing) advantage there. With JBoss being
such an important OS project, it is natural it will be included in their
portfolio of "known" projects.

It seems part of the "dispute" is about money, them claiming money will now
be faiarly distributed to the consultants. Fair enough, but we also read the
JBoss Group will be using massive funds for J2EE licensing. Funds also have
to be set apart in case litigation would ever be necessaretc. Has anybody
ever discussed these kinds of things with them?

In short, I love JBoss, but I hate to see this kind of childish discussion.
JBoss is the premier open source J2EE container. This should be fostered and
nourished, I am afraid that trying to shut out competition is not possible.
This is not possible in normal business (well, unless going the dreaded
patent route...)
