NTEmacs used to have the same problem, and there are
several solutions provided there. Not all of these will work with JDB,
but the fake winsock, is most likely to. If someone wants to try it...

Rather amusingly for the current situation the bug report
is reported as fixed because "This bug is fixed in the new Java
Platform Debug Architecture.".
