It seems to me that this is a generic problem with windows
95/98. I get many apps that dont shut when they are supposed to. Emacs
used to cause it periodically (though this is a lot less frequent than
in emacs19 days). gnuserv also does it not infrequently. I dont know
what else does it as they tend to be Clint processes (processes with
no name).
The only er..."graceful" solution to this is to use emacs
desktop saving, and periodically kill emacs and restart, or better
still kill emacs, and reboot the entire machine. Its a good excuse for
a tea break anyway so Im not complaining, and the desktop saving means
at least you come back in (more or less) where you started.
