The debugger is less of an issue for me, though I too would appreciate a
choice of debuggers. My principal concern is having to develop with an
inferior editor - and Paul K. is quite right, this is not something JDE
will be relevant to. However, stuff like Code Completion with
BeanShell-dependent Lisp is not something I want to discard just in order
to use a graphical form design tool.
For the moment, I'll pursue Truls Arnegaard's suggestion that Emacs /
XEmacs support is planned for NetBeans.

I can find only a couple of mentions of Emacs integration on the NetBeans
site -- could you suggest a contact in that community?
