Currently, AdoptOpenJDK does not support Alpine or Debian in the official images. But this will be changing in the next PR slotted to get pushed to the official Docker library. I talked with the Adopt team last week about support. Currently, they need to expand their testing to support the additional base images/tags. That is the reason Alpine did not make the cut in the last PR, since there was not enough testing done, https://github.com/docker-library/official-images/pull/5710#issuecomment-486972430. The unofficial AdoptOpenJDK images do support Alpine and Debian, like you mentioned, but are nightly builds. I am not sure if there is an official place for a description between the official images vs the unofficial images. What I know is that the official images go through additional testing before they are submitted as PR to the Docker Library.
