I actually rewrote DAMLJessKB using slots a few weeks ago but didn't notice significant performance gain. I also wrote a simple tool to convert DAMLJessKB style facts and rules into slots based facts/rules.
All the DAMLJessKB rules/facts were converted in a second, with the indentations and comments preserved, with no problems observed. The tool is ready, the rewrite of DAMLJessKB is kind of ready, too.
