Dear Friend,

It is the greatest blessing to be a giver in life because the giver gets to
see the fruits of his generosity in the lives of those who received from
him.  It's the joy in the receivers reaction that we who are givers receive
the greatest blessing and bring into realization the quote "givers gain."
The Lord Jesus declares in Luke 6:30-31 "Give to everyone who asks of you.
And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.  And just as
you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise."  Be encouraged to
follow the Lord's command and be a giver with all of your heart not because
you are looking for a reward from people, but rather so your life will be
pleasing to the God who gives you breath. (2 Corinthians 9:7-8) (1 John 3:22-24)

I hope you are encouraged by today's message to be a blessing towards those
around you and show by example Whom you belong to.

HOOKED ON GIVING

Dr. Mar Aprem of the ancient Chaldean Orthodox Church of the East in India,
sometimes tells a funny story about when a member of the church won a
lottery worth 100,000 rupees. His wife went to the bishop and told him that
she was afraid to tell this glad news to her husband because he had a heart
problem and any sudden excitement could cause a heart attack.

The bishop offered to break the news gently to her husband. He visited the
house and asked the man, "Wouldn't it be a good thing if you won 1,000
rupees in the lottery?" The man replied that he still would have to work to support his family.

"What about 10,000 rupees?" the bishop asked. The man still showed no
excitement, so the bishop carefully raised the amount to 50,000 and finally to 100,000 rupees.

"If I got 100,000 rupees, I would give half of it to you, your Excellency," the man replied.

The bishop had a heart attack, and the man called an ambulance.

We can get excited about winning and getting. But have you learned how fun
it is to give? Engineering and machinery genius R. G. LeTourneau discovered
the joy of generosity. Besides establishing a private school, he reportedly
gave 90 percent of his income to worthwhile causes, while living on the
remaining ten percent. He became hooked on the fun of giving!

Of course, money is not the only commodity that is fun to give. Give some
time, give your expertise, give a smile or give your love. You can never
run out of something worthwhile to give.

Giving is fun. And there is no stopping those who discover it!

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap
also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also
bountifully.  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him
give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

Matthew 25:37-40 Jesus says, "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying,
'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You
drink? 'When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe
You? 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' And the
King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you
did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'"

Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus declares, "You are the light of the world.  A city
that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it
under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in
the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works and glorify your Father in heaven."

1 John 3:22-24 "And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep
His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.  And
this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son
Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.  And he that
keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know
that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.

Dear Friend,

We who have made Jesus Christ the Lord of our life should never fear death
or dying.  The Lord has given His assurance that the new life to come will
overshadow any trial or hardship that came our way on the earth and the Joy
that will last for eternity will be unspeakable.  It is true that we should
make the most of our life now on the earth so that it is pleasing to God,
but we should also remember that our home is not on this earth, but will be
with God in Heaven forevermore.  Rejoice in this fact and remember that the
trials in your life are only temporary and will one day be gone never to
return again.  Praise God. (Psalm 139:17-18) (Revelation 21:3-4)

I hope you are encouraged by today's message to see that this life is only
temporary, but the new life to come will last forever and will overshadow
every heartbreak and trial that came our way.

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

"I shall miss mother this Christmas," my friend a clerk in a shop told me.
The clerk's mother had died recently, and this would be the first Christmas without her.

When her mother was in the hospital, the doctor had told the family to stay
out of her room so that she could rest. The clerk said, "So I stayed in the
hall, waiting and listening. Finally I could stand it no longer and I went
into her room." Mother said, "I though you'd never come!" Blinking back
tears, the clerk added, with a smile, "You know, I think that will be the
first words she will say to me when I get to heaven."

The Bible says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His
saints." (Psalm 116:15) I often have looked at death from my own
perspective and not from God's point of view. Just as "there is joy in the
presence of angels of God over one sinner that repenteth" (Luke 15:10) so
too there is joy in heaven over each child of God who goes Home.

And that is what my friend, the clerk, really was saying.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am
thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold
thee with the right hand of My righteousness."

Psalm 139:7-10 "Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee
from Thy presence?  If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there: if I make
my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there.  If I take the wings of the
morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall Thy
hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me."

Revelation 21:3-4 "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold,
the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they
shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no
more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away."

Psalm 139:17-18 "How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! how
great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they are more in number
than the sand: when I awake, I am still with Thee."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
