Dear Friend, We should use every opportunity available to enjoy one another in brotherly love and create memories that will last a lifetime. The time that we have on the earth is minimal and should never be wasted with things that have no relevance to our family or to Eternity. Spending time enjoying our loved ones will create memories that will be remembered far longer than any other thing that tried to steal our time. Be encouraged to invest wisely in those whom you love because the memories you create together will be relished and thought of decades from now. (Romans 12:10) (James 4:14) (1 Peter 1:22-25) I hope today's message ministers to your heart to enjoy the time with those whom you love and make every effort to create memories that will last a lifetime. MEMORY LANE One morning, when I was twenty-two years old, I jumped out of bed and ran to the window to gaze out over "The Lane," as I called it. I loved everything about my walks down this special path, for my journeys were full of beauty, solitude, and communion with my Maker. This particular morning, as the sun peeked her head over the horizon, I was overcome with emotion and memories... I had a favorite Calico cat named Missy, who was my constant companion. More than anything, we shared a love for taking strolls down The Lane. I would gently pick her up, and she would make her way up to my shoulders to wrap herself around the back of my neck. Oh, how I loved those beautiful summer days, feeling the lush soft grass under my bare feet and my patchwork-quilt companion around my neck. I would often pause and gaze up ahead as we started our journey. My eyes would follow The Lane as it stretched downward toward the bottom of the field. From there it climbed steadily until it gradually disappeared on the horizon. To one side of The Lane stood a field of corn, and there were many times that the wind would blow and rustle the leaves of the stalks as we walked by, as if to applaud our coming. Adjacent to the cornfield was a pasture full of horses who quietly nickered their "hello" to us as we sauntered by. Halfway down the path stood my favorite tree, an old massive oak that I named the "fireplace tree," for the bottom of the trunk was hollowed out in the shape of a hearth. When I was very young, I would leave letters inside of the tree, thinking they would stay there forever and that someday, when I was older, I would come back to read them. From there, the Lane climbed steadily upward to an old bladeless windmill with a rusted-out, but functional, pump underneath it. "The Tower," as I called it, seemed to be a monument that marked this place as special. There was something so holy about where The Lane led and the atmosphere surrounding it. As we stood on the top of this knoll, we could see for miles around to all the neighboring fields and woods, and I would pause to hear God's whisper in the gentle fluttering of the trees. I often felt as if we were on the top of the world overlooking all creation, and it was here that I would sit down and carry on serious discussions with my Creator. Many times the wind would blow gently across my face and I always believed it to be the kind hand of God caressing my cheek. I recall the Angora-soft milkweed that grew near the tower in the fall. I would make a wish, blow the fluffy seeds into the wind, and watch them gently float away. In the winter it became my family's sledding hill. We even had nighttime toboggan rides as we were pulled behind our neighbor's tractor, often times harmonizing our voices in song, as the full moon would light our way. I can still see the faces of my neighbors, parents, and siblings as the moonbeams created glowing silhouettes against the pure white snow. In the spring, I remember the freshly plowed fields with their deep rich earth smell, and the dandelions as they burst open and dotted the landscape with yellow... I slowly came back to the present and took one last look at The Lane. The skyline still held a pink tint where the sun had just risen. The mist gathered from the floor of the pathway, swirled upwards, and disappeared. In my mind's eye, I could see her -- the little blond-haired girl with the patchwork-quilt cat draped around her neck. She was smiling at me as she stopped and waved. And then, just as the vapor slowly gathered and disappeared, so did my image of her. I mouthed the words, "Good-bye," choked back my emotions, and stooped to gather the delicate, white lace bridal gown in my arms. It was only then that I noticed my mother had been watching me. I looked at her through my tear-filled eyes, and she tenderly returned my gaze. Finally, she turned away to hide her tears, and said in a low voice, "See you at the church." By Kristi Powers Read and meditate on these scriptures: Romans 12:9-10 "Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth..." Psalm 103:2-5 "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's." 1 John 4:7-8 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible. Dear Friend, The love that God has towards humanity can never be measured by our natural standards. His love and compassion is immeasurable and is offered to all who will simply receive it. God sacrificing His only begotten Son to save mankind from their sins shows the depth of God's never ending love towards His creation. Never believe the lie that you are beyond redemption or that it is too late for you to get right with God. The thief who was being crucified next to the Lord Jesus believed in Him and with his last dying breaths secured His Eternity and was forgiven of every sin in his life. We too can receive the same mercy and forgiveness, but we must trust Him with all our heart, mind and soul. (Romans 5:6-11) (Luke 23:40-43) (Mark 2:16-17) I hope today's message ministers to your heart to trust Jesus Christ with your eternal soul and know that it is only through Him that you can secure your Eternity in heaven. MEDICINE MAN Timothy heard a knock at the door. A solid, confident knock. Most visitors he ignored, as he was too weak now to get to the door without considerable effort, and he didn't want to waste his effort on salesmen, which, it seemed, were all that ever came to his door lately. Timothy usually sat or reclined near the window that afforded him a view of the front porch so he could size up his visitors without moving much. As he looked out on this occasion, he saw a man whom he had never seen the likes of before. He held no briefcase and was dressed modestly, but neatly. Timothy decided to answer the door, and he pulled open the window, and called "I'll be right there," in the direction of the porch. The sickness had showed itself in young Timothy about five years ago, during a vacation in the mountains. He had noticed a numb sensation in his legs during a trail hike. It seemed to grow in intensity over the next few days and though he would normally have dismissed it, he visited the doctor. He found that what he had was incurable and would result in his eventual death. The sickness would slowly weaken and kill him. In his subsequent fight to find the cure for the incurable, Timothy had met all manner of self-proclaimed healers and quacks. He spent much money and time in his pursuit of therapies, none of which really worked. Mind games, foul-tasting elixirs, incantations and various other "medicines" filled his days. But, he had tried them all, it seemed. For Timothy, life had become a waiting game. Timothy opened the door to find the stranger patiently waiting, a slight smile on his face. "What can I do for you?" asked Timothy. "I understand you're looking for a cure?" replied the stranger. "I think you have the wrong address. Try two doors down," said Timothy, in an attempt to save himself time, money and heartache. "I have your cure. Do you want it?" said the man, in a firm but sympathetic tone. "Look, let's just get this all out in the open right off the bat. How much is this gonna cost me?" "It will cost you nothing, but you have to accept it willingly." "This is not one of those 'visualize your self getting well' things, is it? I've tried that. I'm not getting well." "This cure is real. But, it will require your trust. You must believe that I can indeed heal you." "No potions or mantras?" "No, not one." Timothy invited the man in, and either the most eye-opening conversation or the most bald-faced deception he had ever experienced took place in his living room. According to the stranger, everyone in the world had the disease Timothy had. It was hereditary, passed from one generation to another. The symptoms weren't always the same in everyone, and not everyone recognized it as early in their lives as Timothy had, but the result was always the same. No one survived, unless of course this stranger cured him or her. It seemed a little far-fetched to Timothy, but it was indeed a unique story. No one had told him this one before. Was the man crazy? The way he held himself and the words he said didn't hint at mental illness, at least no mental illness Timothy had encountered. He was sharp, quick-witted and confident in speech. For all Timothy knew, he could be telling the truth. "So, who cured you?" asked Timothy. "I'm the only one," the man said, "who was never sick." Author Unknown The Bible says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. No matter your background, your color or your creed. The Lord is able to save all who call upon His name in truth. Trust in His finished work on the cross and know that God is faithful to forgive you and receive you unto Himself for all Eternity. (Acts 16:27-34) (Romans 10:9-13) (John 19:30) Read and meditate on these scriptures: John 3:16-17 Jesus declares "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." Mark 2:16-17 "And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto His disciples, How is it that He eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Isaiah 55:6-7 "Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon." 1 John 1:8-9 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
