Mike, may I recommend not borrowing the code from Liferay.
If you want to review it to get some ideas, I guess thats fine.
But please lets write our own implementation here and concentrate on
Apache quality and doing it right, not rushing out a quick solution

Will do. I have just begun to think about it. I intend to think about
the approach until I've got my head around it. I should have some of
this work done by the end of this week. Then I'll propose a design that
we can all talk about. Does that sound like a reasonable idea? I have
not done open source development. However, I've been doing XP and other
sorts of collaborative development for many years.
