It was the firewall issue. I tried an internal site and it worked fine (I
did go ahead with the 9/21 build). I will check the mail archives for
help.

Try using the war file build on 9/21,

If you continue to have errors:
1) Does the Jetspeed welcome page display?
2) Add some detail to "does not work"
3) Any error in jetspeed.log
4) If their is a firewall between your machine and the internet, then I
would expect problem with WebPagePortlets that reference site on the
other side of the firewall. Search www.mail-archive.com for solutions,
they are their.
