I reaffirm Scott's point. Im sorry but I just had to swear off support on the jetspeed lists for a few weeks.and 'photo album and message posting portlets?' have all been sitting with
no reply - just to name a few. From my experience, this is very common on
this list : users post and no-one answers.
No response to this type of question probably means no, there is not this type of application available. Having to negatively respond to this type of message generates unneeded list traffic.
I don't think that is going to happen when questions from serious users go
unanswered.
IMOHO, this is a rarity. However, if this could happen now would be the time. We are in the process of finalizing a 1.5 release and are quite pre-occupied with that. Those of us working on Jetspeed 2.0/JSR 168 are busy as heck trying to get that ready. And believe it or not we (jetspeed developers) all have employers/clients that expect us to work on their projects too, the nerve of some people! ;)
Im trying to work on the new impl and meet the demands of a project dependent on it.
I do miss helping and meeting people on the mailing lists, lets see what I can do....
I agree with Jasen's comments about not enough "high level" portlet applications for Jetspeed.
But I believe that by us all working towards a standardized Jetspeed, that we will soon have the opportunity to participate in creating standardized portal applications the correct way, and together as a team when the foundation is in place.
If you need something sooner, I think that some of the open source portal-like solutions recommended in this thread are not bad solutions.
