Having installed and attempted to use Bea Portal 4.0 I must say installing
and using Jetspeed is a relief!

Kevin,

I am just another Jetspeed user. I think Jetspeed is a great portal
framework.
As with any open source projects, you will need to dig through the code,
understand it,
and then start using it in your project. It is the "labor-cost" associated
with any open source project.
I am not sure anyone is going to provide you free software + free service.
Also, I don't think
the word "user" in the open source community means a non-developer.

Sandeep

I've been trying to get started with Jetspeed and posted with the title
'Error Starting Jetspeed in Resin 2, Tomcat 4 and Jetty 4.' Thus far I have
yet to receive a reply. :-(

I've been lurking on this list for a while and it seems quite dead. In my
inbox now, the messages 'Cannot Log in', 'jsp and unicode support problem',
and 'photo album and message posting portlets?' have all been sitting with
no reply - just to name a few. From my experience, this is very common on
this list : users post and no-one answers.

The developer/user community makes a huge difference in the success of a
project. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I don't want to use
Jetspeed for this very reason. I like the Apache projects and a lot of good
stuff comes out of Jakarta. I don't want to offend anyone, I just want the
developers to know that I - for one - am turned off by what I'm seeing here.
I'd like to see Jetspeed be a successful member of the Jakarta projects and
I don't think that is going to happen when questions from serious users go
unanswered.

Sincerely,

A. Kevin Baynes
