Thanks for reply. First I have some info for performance tuning:
http://nagoya.apache.org/wiki/apachewiki.cgi?JetspeedPerformanceTips

Sorry again that I am combining two different topic with this reply, namely,
- performance, and Data migration from PSML to MySQL issues.

I read your thread - "HSQL to mySQL configuration problem -
ProfileException".

First of I want to mention my working configuration:
Windows 2000, MySQL 4.0.17, Tomcat 4.1.18, jetspeed 1.4, velocity as
presentation pages (velocity Portlets or velocity portlet container).

With me its windows not any of the UNIX flavor. Find problem is giving path
value to few also. I am also finding problem with building the source code.

Parallely I am trying to download maven, and do build from that.

Few doubts I have,

*. Did you build your war file by doing build from the source code of
jetspeed ? Or with the direct war file only you got your things working.

*. After integrating MySQL with jetspeed, are you able to see the original
jetspeed screen, as it is OR just the login part is working. What I mean is
are you able to access to sample portlet that come with jetspeed, after
migrating from HSQL (or so called PSML) to MySQL ?

*. One deviation I found as that of your is I created a blank database by
name jetspeed in MySQL. Tried create new user by name jetspeed, password as
jetspeed. Then tried importing turbine-mysql.sql, dbpsml-schema.sql,
populate-mysql.sql.

mysql -ujetspeed -pjetspeed jetspeed < dbpsml-schema.sql

Only first script went well, I got error for the second script, namely -
dbpsml-schema.sql, its regarding IDENTITY as column type. And some more
problems with populate-mysql.sql script also.

So did you altered anywhere in these script or not ??????

Thanks & regards,
Prasad A Navalimath

Check out the thread I started called "HSQL to mySQL configuration problem -
ProfileException". That may answer your problem. I have set up mySQL as
the user database but still have to convert the filed based PSML over to
mySQL.

First I am sorry for replying with same subject & body though I am little
deviating from the main topic.

Yes I am also very much interested in information on the same lines.

Michael Dalton, Could you please send the steps for how you configured MySQL
with Jetspeed. I tried the step given in the link --
http://www.helmuth.net/mitel-sme/JetSpeed/jetspeed-howto.htm . And no
success. Infact I found problem in importing data into the MySQL. Especially
problem with column type as IDENTITY. Somehow using other tools I imported
all the tables & data for them. But the portlets had problem in being
displayed, just I am able to login.

I am running jetspeed on Windows 2000, MySQL 4.0.17, Tomcat 4.1.18, jetspeed
1.4.

If anybody is able to successfully import data into MySQL & integrated with
jetspeed ? Please help me and send the appropriate scripts/steps also.

Thanking all, Awaiting for positive replies,
Prasad A Navalimath

Subject: Jetspeed 1.4 deployment performance ?

Does anyone have any good source of information regarding the performance of
a fully deployed Jetspeed 1.4 configuration. My management has been asking
for "numbers". I am looking for:

1) How many users can Jetspeed 1.4 handle.
2) Performance differences between Windows and UNIX boxes
3) Performance differences between Tomcat and other app servers.

We are currently planning to deploy on Windows 2000 boxes and our users may
top 5000. Possible usage at any one moment may be in the hundreds.

1) How much physical memory should our machines have?
2) Best load balanced configuration? Current plans are 2 boxes + 1 box for
database.
3) Best database? Currently set up with mySQL.

Any comments are appreciated.
