I may have been able to convince someone of doing just that if I had at
least a demo running on our machines. But the time crunch was on and
epicentric came in fast.
Its difficult to get management to trust in Open source products even though
I know the quality can be quite good. The questions always fall on what
support is available. And who do they sue if things go wrong. There are
billions of dollars at stake in this company dealing with b2b. And downtime
costs them money but more importantly respect.
I would love to give you access but I installed epicentric on an internal
SUN box that is blocked out by the firewall. It is being used for
development at the moment so there is no external access. We do have a
requirement for someone to work on developing new modules for the portal and
other servlets if anyone is interested. Houston, Texas.
I just basically installed epicentric on one of our SUNs for evaluation. I
really haven't had much experience with it since I handed it off to another
team. I can get someone who has been developing for epicentric to give their
2 cents worth. I am too busy with my team developing and trying to meet our
deadlines. Hence I have been working on Jetspeed at about 12.00 midnight
every night for the past week.
One feature I liked with Epicentric was the admin module. It makes it quite
simple to set up which feeds users can get and which groups have what and
other admin duties.
It would be good if anyone has a clue as to how I can go about in getting
Jetspeed to work on my machine.
Andrew
