When will we have a poll portlet for Jetspeed? :)

At the office we recently chose DataChannel as an XML-based EIP server. From
the limited amount of research I was able to do ahead of time, DataChannel
was one of the only EIP servers based on XML, though SoftwareAG's Tamino
might also qualify. (I recently became aware of Sequoia Software's XML
Portal Server).

Some other commercial non-XML EIP servers we looked at (briefly) include
Epicentric, Plumtree, Viador, Autonomy's Portal-In-a-Box, and Hummingbird.

- A very simple installation process, to include setting up the Turbine
  database and tables.
- A MyYahoo/MyNetscape-like customization interface.
- More intuitive portlet icons, again like MyYahoo/MyNetscape.
- A better portlet browsing/selection interface. With potentially thousands
of portlets coming from content feeds, a well-organized, easy to use
  portlet browser is a must.
- Content management, to allow users to publish and manage content via the
web (through simple web forms as well as WebDAV).
- A strong weblog application to provide the same functionality as Slashdot
(sections, topics, threaded replies, moderation, polls, etc.).
- And of course, documentation. :)
