I had a look at the code, fixing this will require quite a few changes because
currently the customizer tries to instanciate all the portlets...
I can see several possible fix, but quite difficult to implement for an 
imminent release.
Maybe, we should just put this in the release notes.

OK. Can you update the TODO list with that you feel you quickly achieve the 
other unresolved points will go on the release notes and known bugs list ?
