I can't catch one of my ceiling fans to clean it.  About 3 years ago I was
trying to cut it off and the chain broke. So it has been running nonstop on
medium speed for 3 years. It is over our bed so in the summertime it is ok
but it gets a bit nippy in the winter. LOL

PS. I figure that at least the constant movement keeps the dust off of it.
