Beth,
Oh yes, if the motor was hot or something I would do something but it's fine.
I did take off the housing & look at the possibility of replacing the chain and it just did not look uncomplicated.

I don't know if I'd let it go on forever.  It might become a fire hazard eventually, KWIM?  Just check on it.  See if the base feels hot.  You KNOW you can turn the electricity off for a few minutes and detach the base plate from the ceiling and just turn it off that way, right?  and while you're in there, put a new chain on it.  :)  I had one break off once, but it was an overhead light, not a fan.  I just took the globe off and twisted the bulb a little to turn it off an on until I got a new chain.  Then I found out I had to get a whole new ceiling fixture because the one I had was so old.  My house was built in the 50s and most of it was still the same as the day it was built (until I moved in and started renovating everything)

Just be careful with that ceiling fan, :)

Yes, you would just think that we would just get it fixed, wouldn't you? LOL But now I sorta want to see just how long it will go. :)
