Yes you can make progress........just do it in baby steps. I used to be
swamped with laundry or so it seemed until I started having my daughter
(age 13) and my oldest son (age 15) do their own laundry twice a week. Now
my youngest son (age 10) wants to do his own laundry so I have given him
two days a week and I help him. The only clothes I wash now are my
husbands, towels, an occasional load of whites (namely if the kids dont
have a full load of them) and my own clothes and bedstuff. It has worked
out wonderfully.
So here is my chore chart for each kid:
(1) Clean their own room (The boys have their own sides to clean since they
share a room) I inspect it twice a week (and never on the same day) IF its
messy I leave a post it on their door that the maid will be in tomorrow to
clean. (needless to say i dont have to do that much because the last time i
cleaned I boxed their stuff up and they had to pay me to get it back.)
(2) Each do their own laundry (They each have a basket in their room)
Jon- Wednesday and Sunday
Jessica-Tuesday and Friday
Lee- Monday and Thursday
I wash what is needed of mine stuff while they are in school.
(3) Each has one individual chore
Jon-Take trash out (put on curb if its trash night)
Jessica-Supper dishes
Lee- Pick up dog toys and make sure inside dog bowls have water and food
every evening.

Hugs,
Ardella
