Ardella,
I have a perhaps odd solution for you. Could your ds help with the insurance payment? Pay perhaps half or some other percentage? My dad made me pay for my first car (which was a hand me down from my parents) and half my insurance (and all my gas). I was much more responsible than some of the other kids I went to school with who didn't have to pay for anything driving related. Not to mention my summers were taken up with a summer job to pay for said insurance. I still ran wild in the streets <g> just not 24 hours a day. I did the full time gig all summer, part time ( very part time) during the school year to pay for gas, shows, records, stuff I wanted, ect (until college when it was full time student, full time job). Just a thought. Use what you can, disregard the rest. :)

Diane,
I did inquire about my oldest son getting his learners permit. (He can get
it now at age 15) however when I asked at the insurance company if he got
his permit and license at age 16 (his birthday is in July) how much would
my rates go up......When they gave me the quote it was more then I thought
it would be. It was more than doubled what I am currently
paying.........needless to say even if my son takes drivers ed in school I
will NOT be signing for him to get his drivers license. At age 18 he will
be able to get it and his own insurance policy.
Hugs,
Ardella
