What about a long stick of some kind - a broom or long dowel rod. Keep poking as high as you can reach. Then have your son do the same from the top. Maybe by working from both ends, you can reach it all. Someone else suggested a leaf blower. Along the same lines, how about a shop vac to suck that lint down. You could also rent an air compressor (although my DH has one of his own, because...well, because he's a man and men must have their toys.) Usually, one would use a compressor for things like filling car tires, since it's a very concentrated powerful stream of air, but it seems like it would work for clearing out a vent too. Maybe ask around to the neighbors to see if anyone has one, especially someone who might work on cars. It's important to get that vent cleaned, because not only does it affect how well your dryer works, but it is also a fire hazard.
