Diane~

I've not yet introduced myself to the group. I've been lurking around
for quite a while because I've been really busy, and right now I have to
run off to an appointment with a client so I'll just throw in my 2 cents
worth about your dryer and leave the introductions till later today or
tomorrow.

I'm a realtor and that's one of the things that comes up quite often on
home inspections. The inspector has suggested that every six months you
take a leaf blower and blow it up the vertical vent pipe that's between
the walls. He said that this would dislodge any lint and keep that vent
open. I know that my oldest daughter lived in an apartment that had a
vertical vent pipe going up to the roof and it used to take forever for
her dryer to dry her clothes. I wish builders would design houses with
the utility rooms on the outside walls of houses so you wouldn't have
this problem.

Hope this helps!

 Hi ladies!

Yesterday the Sears repairman finally showed up to fix my dryer and the
part was finally there too (long story). The dryer WORKS - and it was
covered by warranty. Thank you God!

The problem was that the limiter switch (or something like that) got
fried due to the dryer overheating. According to the repairman, this was
caused by lint filling the vent pipe.

My dryer is NOT vented to an outside wall. It is on an inside wall of
the garage. The vent pipe goes up the wall, through the attic & to the
roof. Apparently, after 18 years of clothes drying the vent pipe is
filled with lint. I clean the hose that attaches the dryer to the wall
pipe. I also reached up inside there as far as I could and pulled out
gobs of lint. However, the repairman believes that the pipe is filled
with lint all the way up! He said that if I reattach the dryer hose to
it, the dryer will overheat again and Sears will not cover it.

Any ideas on how I can clean a pipe that runs from the roof, through the
attic and down the wall to the floor? That is quite a long way... I am
going to send Chase up on the roof to see what he can find out.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

 Thanks
 Diane
