Tat,
You are on the right track. Going around picking up
garbage when you can is a great start. But along with
that, you need to be very consious of what you bring
into your home. Will it just be garbage to throw away?
If yes, think twice. I've also heard that when you
want to bring something new home, ask yourself, do you
need it? Do you love it? If not, don't do it. Also,
before it comes home, visualize a home and use for it.
If it comes in without a predetermined home, it will
surely just add to your clutter.
Something else I've been thinking about lately is what
would happen if my home burst into flames. We were
left with nothing. What would I use to rebuild my
home? How would I redecorate? Think of all the things
I would not have, and look at what I do. What can I do
without. Be honest with yourself. Little by little
you'll get there. Keep plugging away.
