Tat,
A crockpot is a kitchen appliance that plugs in for
the sole purpose of "slow-cooking". It is ususally two
pieces that fit inside one another. The outer shell
contains a heating element and is made of a type of
metal I think, but doesn't usually get too hot to
touch, (at least the new ones shouldn't). The inner
part is the pot which you put in various foods to
cook, some kind of ceramic or stoneware, I think. It
fits perfectly inside the outer shell. The crockpot
has a lid too. You just throw whatever in and let it
simmer away all day. For example, if I make a chicken
stew in mine, Veggies and meat go in by 9:30 and
dinner is ready by 6pm. (It really does cook that
slow.) Most have knobs for low or high temp, but even
high would still take 4-5 hours. Sure makes the house
smell yummy!!

Kris
