Political Crisis in Lakes State Solved
By Manyang Mayom
RUMBEK, Oct 27 (Gurtong) – The persistent political wrangles in Lakes
State has finally been solved.
The squabbles have been blamed for the constant inter–clan clashes that
have hit the state, owing to disagreements between key Sudan People
Liberation Movement (SPLM) leaders.
Last week, a closed-door meeting that brought together all party members
was held under the leadership of Lakes State Governor and SPLM chairman,
comrade Daniel Awet Akot.
During the meeting, the chairperson for SPLM Caucus in Lakes State
Assembly, Hon. Gordon Maper Manyiel, was re-instated to his position after
being impeached last year, allegedly due to incompetence.
Furthermore, the meeting was also informed that the speaker of Lakes State
Assembly, Hon Isaiah Alier Machinkok and his deputy, Hon. Marik Nanga
Marik, who were also impeached last September, had been re-instated to
their positions following a presidential order that absolved them from any
wrongdoing.
During the meeting, the Lakes State Governor also called for harmony
between all political parties in order to have a peaceful co–existence in
the State.
