GoSS pursuing money stolen from it in Uganda Monday, 11 April 2011 16:24 Sudan >>> Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) Liaison Office in Kampala says it has still not received all the money that Uganda's Anti-Corruption Court had ruled for last month. GoSS had sued an individual for stealing money that it sent to Uganda in 2009 for paying tuition fees of southern Sudanese students there, which ended up in a private account.
GoSS Liaison Education Attaché to Kampala, Lual Akol Nhial, said that a new case will be filed against the Ugandan individual who was employed by GoSS locally. Of the over US$300 thousand that went missing, GoSS was able to recover more than half, but will now pursue the remaining amount of over US$130 thousand which was left in the individual's account. The court sentenced the individual to two 60-month sentences in jail, which he will serve concurrently, Radio Miraya's correspondent in Kampala reports. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
