Dr Josephine Must Tell Us More! Her article entitled “prosecution or persecution” or whatever is a loaded potent mix that have raised total cluster of issues about nothing.
05 May 2011 By Isaiah Abraham The financial drama that has started in the Ministry of Higher Education few years ago, a scandal in which a high profile government personality was involved, has taken an ugly turn as the lady has burst out openly to declare her innocence and accused her boss and people around there of conspiring to kick her out for malignant and exterior purposes. She hid none about everything in that ministry; she moved a notch higher to pinned specifics to certain ethnic group by finger pointing that they too are major accomplices in the mismanagement of the public fund. No one has missed the gem of the writing anyway, a potent mix that has left some of us wondering whether she could be believed or would complicate things for her much further. The jury has gone to the public judge, given narratives from the convict herself. For starters, the drama started sometime in 2009. Anti-corruption was alerted that someone has wired students money to her account through a Ugandan working in the Higher Education Ministry. The Anti-Corruption Commission took over, and two third of that money was recovered. The suspension was issued against the Official ‘legally’ in-charged and the case dragged from court until somewhere it reached the Supreme Court. Last month the Supreme Court made a ruling that the lady in question (Josephine) must serve prison sentence for ten years, a decision that is being challenged by her and her attorneys. The public at that time couldn’t believe the story that indeed the daughter of our former leader could have been party to such financial saga. But some skeptics keep on disassociating the family tie with the crime as that was an individual act far from any family connection. But until yesterday I have never had a picture about Josephine. Today I have a bit of the person and don’t want to make a mistake about who this lady is. To me she is naïve and dangerous! First of all, I must say that this letter isn’t a legal defense against Josephine or in favor of gentlemen mentioned in the scam (Dholruai and Atem Kuir). But if anyone thinks so, then it is also fine with me! This letter, however, is all but about fallacies and wild statements that are sentimentalizing our own social and political personalities of people involve or not involve in her case. This is all wrap up in the form of lamentations, invoking of wraths against particular groups, whipping sympathy using clever ruse, regional incantations to paint a picture about others, feministic prowess show, as well as playing legal jiggers to make a point of being truly victimized. On the onset, I thought this was unfair treatment against one of our promising lady in our land, but reading through her minds in the argument, I made up my mind that she got to clear the air in a more dignified fashion not under such an emotional and irritating if not an annoying style. Her article entitled “prosecution or persecution” or whatever is a loaded potent mix that have raised total cluster of issues about nothing. I have found my argument in these statements below and want to begin anywhere: One is the conclusion in the quoted here attached about the issue of who did actually transfer the money to Uganda. Read the dying line question, “Lastly, Lual Akol, the newly appointed coordinator, had already left for Kampala a few days earlier and we did not have his bank account. So what was I supposed to have done?” The above statement contradicts what we heard earlier that she wasn’t involved in the physical transfer of the money and signatory. She said the money transfer was done by his colleague Atem while she was still in Uganda. On similar note we read that the use of Felix bank account was normal practice as that was sanctioned by the minister. I sincerely have a problem with such idiots coming over the internet to call names of tribes and make fun of our togetherness. People suffer and died for the sake of this land; others want to be leaders using keyboards and riding on the back of their family stardoms. Dr Josephine, you failed the test by making irresponsible statements and issue defamatory or hate messages against other Southerners. Lady said, “and my case is being used to intimidate Equatorians ahead of what is to come, then it is up to Equatorians to decide whether to be second class citizens in their own country or not. The choice is absolutely theirs”. Is Josephine sure here that somewhere Equatorians are second class citizen? I challenge this girl to withdraw it; it provocative and tribally inclined piece that must be prodded. Look, in our current government our brother Equatorians aren’t marginalized, in our government today (GOSS) 65% of civil servants are from that region. We have as many Director Generals as there are numerous directors in all ministries and independence commissions. No one thought about such imbalance and the good lady has the stomach to insult our conscience and asking instigate Equatorians to liberate themselves. What a system here in Juba that allows enemies of the South to masquerade as angels of Southern peace when in fact they had stomach first and others second? Madame Josephine if you want us to join you square others, this should be done in this forum. The legal lines are clear. If anyone denies you justice why call out on the whole region to rebel and fight for their rights? What has your mess got to do with Equatorians? I wish I had power to lock you up and leave you to rot there. You make me doubt your great father commitment to the cause of our struggle. Don’t you care that new Sudan magic had actually propelled us thus far? Who lies that those who claim to be new Sudan advocate don’t have separation in their vocabulary? Your silence would have helped you, not this amateurish outburst. You also say, “I do not come from a culture or background where taking what does not belong to you is like a second nature. It is preposterous for anyone to imagine that I was going to indulge in the looting spree that had crippled the GoSS.”. Uh! No one knew that until this line that GOSS has been at a looting spree, and if that is so, then are we alluding that anyone can still do the same since this is the habit by the entire government? I feel that this is a big statement and should have been qualified by enough evidences that confirmed the truth. Prof. Job alleged theft isn’t enough alone. Madame Josephine, by sheer shrewdness, wanted to sound holier than thou in sharks of looters. That is an insult and she should have resigned if she was of culture that tolerated no looting spree. Funny she kept on working and hoping until her name got dropped somewhere. Then there is this statement “she is going to prevent Dinka students from accessing scholarships. She is dangerous to the Dinka nation and should be removed.” Madame Josephine by association had made all Dinka complacence to another theory to educate their children on the expense of other tribes. She is blatant here and should have been wiser. This is tricky given the fact she was there say eight months and that period is enough to correct any anomaly, what did she do in there to balance the equation in favour of all tribes? But in all it is a diversionary statement. The fat is that majority of students that benefit from Uganda and Kenyan are Equatorians. Dr Josephine needs to understand that education is good when it is used for the common good but useless when one turns it to play around with the minds of our ordinary people. By calling charging that your rivals are incompetence makes believe that you are showing off. Another erroneous statement comes thus: “This obviously aroused jealousy among my incompetent rivals”. But is Dr Josephine ‘rival’ really incompetent? Mr Atem graduated long enough when she was still a young girl in intermediate school, and he then finished his MA in Education while holding AK 47 on one hand; he did it in one of the recognized East African Universities. He is professionally a teacher who went to the bush and stayed there the rest of his adult life. It is a poking mockery at best to call us ‘incompetents’. In which way are ‘incompetents’ in the eyes of Ms Josephine? Were we wrong to take up arms and never ran hide in luxuries of our family or to exile? If we had all gone to exile to acquired PhDs, there would never have been separation. That animal called separation doesn’t come through attending conferences, taking pictures of hungry people or becoming or declaring allegiance while sipping cold drink while living in one of the affluent cities of the world. Rather it comes through sweat and blood, and men did then and ready to defended now! But where on earth should those with Master Degrees be classified as ‘incompetents”. I can understand that Josephine is a fresher in public life, and needed to have learned from Uncle Makungu. Uncle Lagu wasn’t a difficult man; the daughter is typical of personalities that survive on gossips, mudslinging and backbiting against people she thinks aren’t from her tribe. That bad mouthing is classical of self-conceited people that judge through what they heard and not what they actually witness. I have opened my mouth wide because I fear now more about people that should have taken the button of social liberation ahead after the end of the political one. Madame Josephine, is academic ladders alone enough to make you head a ministry? Ummm! It is easy these days to have a greener as an Undersecretary; academic qualification alone can’t warrant anyone that position. But is Dr Josephine a character to make a difference in our society like his father? To my contraction in her piece therefore, Dr Josephine is a novice that needs to develop a political character first before she become a technocrat. A chance to do just that has been squandered, and she should take the teaching job easy now and forget about moving anywhere. This is a bitter truth unless her threat of coming back through a ballot box becomes true. Wait a minute, did I hear my young sister saying Professor Dhoruai called the Vice President anti-government figure? This statement again sickened my bones because for a tall personal like the daughter of our good leader (Lagu) to chatter like a little girl caught in pilferage at home and want to save face, it is unforgivable. Big people don’t talk like that about such confidentiality thrusts. She mistakenly calculate that by firing this salvo she had hoped she could put a wedge between Dr Machar and Gen Kiir erstwhile factions something I think she would hope and hope and will never come! These men (Kiir and Machar) aren’t going to part ways any time soon; each has discovered that without the other, their future shall abruptly come to an end. After all we young generation want them to adapt to our current standards of no borders or else we take over through a peaceful revolution. Dr Josephine should have known that $39,000 isn’t that small money to be trivialized. A pound in our today status counts! We want our money back from anyone who may have been tempted to stretch his hands far enough to public money. But the moral aspect in everything is that corruption, whether through a connive or real, should be fought tooth and nail; whether the daughter of a king is involve or not. Why hurry to amass wealth that doesn’t belong to you brethren? Those who steal and put a face to talk loud that they are untouchable should think again. Look, Dr Josephine had wanted us to believe that the money was sent by someone else, received by an account even private like others, and the money was so little that it could have been recovered by her while she still served in that Ministry, and the retort is this: what the public know is that the money was sent through her watchful consent and approval; no one had coerced her to go away, sign anything or authorize anyone. If the court lies about this point, then we must all be liars, because facts are there. Is the IT man not jail as we speak and if not true where is Felix at the moment. How about this line from our learned lady about Public Service Regulations bypassed. “In the case where money was involved, since I was lawfully in possession of the money in case of any loss, I should have been asked by the Board to replace the money within a given period”. Do you read awry the same I do? Yes, that statement betrays her and makes us see light in the murkier and stultified tirades against her own people and the government his father serves. May be the girl had wished that she could have been allowed to play with the law, under a lenient sentence or treatment to recover money bits by bits. Why would you say this line Josephine? Where you looking for an escape route other than what the law dictates and if yes why then do you deny that you never knew anything about the money? The underlining issue is that you had wanted to defraud us from knowing the truth. Tell us more. If you say the money was transferred out of your knowledge and proudly quoted High Court Judge (Obech Denyuon Ayoung) ruling that the sentence should have shared between you and Mr Atem Kuir, it confuses things altogether. The word around is that something has happened and someone must be held responsible. That person is non other than the accounting officer in the position of Undersecretary. In a few words therefore, the poor girl should have gone slow, follow up her appeal case quietly without playing dirty games of agitation, smearing, character assassination and breach of trust. She should have stayed objective, confident and reserved until the next court hears her case. In total, she is reckless and I for one don’t sympathize with her at this point! No one would love to see another Southerner mistreated or unfairly denied any right or justice when we are masters of our own and when that was the practice during our masters in Khartoum. Even Khartoum judicial system was so judicious, and few Southerners have no faith in the Judicial System there. Dr Josephine shouldn’t panic, she must behave even in this particular tide. Going overboard is unimpressive and a negative. The fight for her innocence ought to have been carried out honourably. For now I see problems on her way unless someone from similar club would love to argue for the sake of argument or defend for the sake of defending one of their Posted in: Opinions -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
