Sudan Radio Service Juba University Students Lack Funds From Student’s Welfare Fund News from Sudan Radio Service 10 June 2011—(Juba) —Students of Juba University have for months not attended classes because the student’s welfare fund established by Sudan government under President Al-Bashir’s leadership has been cut off.
The dean of student at Juba University, Dr. Lino Guake said that, the school capacity is very limited that, it can’t accommodate all of its students. [Dr. Lino Guake] “There was a role of body called student welfare fund which was established by the government of Bashir and that body used to take care of accommodations and many other things and also giving services, so we don’t have that body in the south. So all those who were running the body were from the north, the leaders. Now we have come to the end of the road and we don’t have it. Number two is that, Juba University has expanded in the north, there are a number of colleges, the populations have gone up to nine thousand and the accommodation capacity we have now is about three thousand five hundred, you see the balance of five thousand and something, where can you put them?” Early this year, Southern Sudan Legislative assembly pledged to expand and build new Universities and twelve technical schools across southern Sudan. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
