Umma party leader to attend S Sudan independence celebrations Friday, 24 June 2011 13:45 Sudan >>> Sudan's opposition Umma party leader, Sadiq Al-Mahadi, confirmed on Thursday that he will honor an invitation by Salva Kiir, the President of the Government of Southern Sudan, to attend south Sudan's Independence celebrations due on July 9th. A member of the party's political bureau, Mohamed Zaki, told Radio Miraya that the decision by the party leader to attend the celebrations is based on the party's desire to foster strong ties between the north and the south.
