Hi,
I use JFFNMS for about year, and I am not an expert, so these are my personal views :-) and could result of lack of knowledge.

You need SNMP agent at each monitored IP address/device

??? No Idea, but if your IDS does support SNMP, then you can monitor IT, but definitely expect PHP programming to be able to monitor your "non-standard/not common" device

??? As far as I know, Satellites are not supported yet.
Users work with JFFNM via web browser.

If they have SNMP agents then yes, but you cannot simply "load" MIB definition to JFFNMS, you must add support for your devices yourself, so expect PHP programming.

Yes, but I have not found them useful, they are designed for network links, not servers, as far as I understand them. Nagios shoul be better for reports about servers and their services.

Email, sound and some modem to SMS script, but have not tested them.

HTTPS for web access.

Generally yes, but have ended up with technicians having admin rights and read only rights for the rest of the stuff.

Plain text.

No problems.
Compared to what I have previously used JFF can give you a very good value for money, but you have to be skilled to customize it to your needs.
For me it is a best NMS for free.
