Oups, my first post since the list has moved. I forgot to update my

Objet: Logredo failed with errno: 217
Date: Mon, 25 Apr 2005 13:23:27 -0400
I am having a problem with the /, /usr, /var and my databases
filesystems. My system is a Gentoo distro. Last week-end I tried to
update the modules (emerge) and everything seems to work fine until it
reached the point it needs to write something in the / filesystem. I was
unable to write in / because it was mounted read-only.

The kernel is 2.6.8. I then booted with the Gentoo LiveCD with the idea
to fsck all the filesystems before rebooting. So, I started the fsck
procedure. Seems it worked for some of the filesystems, but failed for
others saying it cannot continue. So, the filesystems are not usable now
and I can no longer boot my system. When booting it failed fscking the /
filesystem saying logredo failed with errno=217.

I don't know it it is enough info to suggest a procedure, if not, I can
boot with the CD and do a fsck from there.

BTW, most of my filesystems are LVM2 managed, except / and /boot. /boot
is not a jfs and / is a jfs. /var and /usr are LVM2 managed and jfs and
also failed to fsck.

THX,
Daniel Savard
