The LiveCD is having 1.1.4 on it.

I ran jfs_fsck from the LiveCD again with the --omit_journal_replay. I
am getting the following messages at Phase 8. That is consistent with
what I observed when originally running the fsck from the LiveCD, at
boot time it just stopped on the return code 271, but when ran manually
it continues and display these messages:
ata1: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
ata1: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }
scsi0: ERROR on channel 0, id 0, lun 0, CDB: 0x28 00 00 If 61 57 00 00

end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 2056535
Buffer I/O error on device sda3, logical block 215
Unrecoverable error reading M from /dev/sda3. CANNOT CONTINUE.
This message repeats itself many times for something like 10 sectors,
except the last line which appears once at the end of the last message.
This is the same kind of messages I am getting with other filesystems.
I was not able to capture the output with a redirection into a file of
both stdout and stderr, so, I had to type everything by hand. At the
beginning, there is a few ata1:.... messages something like twice the
first two lines and the the scsi0: ERROR...
