The advantage is a single keystroke instead of two. It's also harder to find previous hits using your method. But on the other hand, it's another couple of keystrokes to try and remember!

As you know, these two commands also move focus if a Word find command hasn't previously been invoked. I find it less confusing to press control-f a second time. The previous search term stays, so just press enter. If you want to keep looking for more instances, keep the find command open and repeatedly press the spacebar until all instances have been located. Press JAWS key+c to hear the context. Press escape when you want to get out of "find." Press control-f and escape again to resume searching for the same search term.
