Kimsan, No, it does not, unless you've accidentally "escaped out" and hit a space. In that case the search phrase would likely have been replaced with a space if it were still selected. I am not getting any "Do you want to save changes" warning when using this technique. That being said, I frequently do get spurious "Do you want to save changes" warnings upon exiting word when I absolutely know that I did not change a blessed thing, even by doing something like hitting a character and then deleting same immediately. I have been trying to figure out for years why those messages come up when they do, but have been unsuccessful in finding a reason. In general I just exit out using the don't save option when I know I've not done anything I want to save. I also have he habit of doing occasional saves while I'm editing, when I know the changes I made so far should be permanent, and I can't recall ever getting the "Do you want to save changes" when I did my final exit from Word when I do that, except if I have made actual changes since my last manual Save was done.
